A couple weeks ago, I had the pleasure of creating studio maternity photos for a gorgeous couple. They had never done photos together (not even wedding photos!), so this was a brand new experience for them.
I met them in the studio and quickly discovered that Dad was a little camera shy. (<< This may be an understatement) I can totally relate to that myself. I value photography, I want to exist in photos to leave something for my children when I’m gone, but I feel totally uncomfortable when its time to get in front of the camera. I am much happier behind the scene, which I think is part of the reason I became a photographer.
Knowing that this would need to be as painless as possible, we quickly knocked out a handful of natural poses of the two of them interacting. Its a lot easier to take photos when you don’t have to make eye contact with the camera. You can just focus on the person you love and be yourself.
When all was said and done, we did a few individual shots of mama to be. The pictures are simply gorgeous and we were able to get a nice gallery with lots of variety. There are some more boudoir photos, along with some more dramatic, artsy portraits. We used a mix of outfits, some that were mine and some that mom brought with her.
Check out a few highlights from the gallery below. I can’t wait to meet their new baby in October!
I am currently booking maternity photo sessions for December and early 2018. If you’d like more information, or if you’d like to book, please visit this page for all the details.
