I know a lot of the maternity imagesĀ I show on my blog are highly styled, so I thought that I would use this post to show some more natural maternity photography. After all, images that focus on interaction are some of the most captivating ones that I take.
I’ve had many clients request images that are a little more natural feeling. I love these types of images because they show exactly who my clients are, without any extra styling to make things more complicated.
These two, for example, are the most loving, joy filled couple. They couldn’t stop smiling and you can just see how in love they are.
If you are a little nervous on camera, I know it can be hard to open up and act as naturally as these two. I have lots of little prompts that I use to get couples to interact with each other. Simple things, such as having your husband whisper what he is most proud of in your ear, can bring out the most beautiful reactions. How could you not smile when you hear such a special sentiment? The best part is that every time you see that image, you will remember exactly what he whispered. The image will forever be your little reminder of that moment.
This is a tactic that works well with busy toddlers as well. It is really hard to get a two year old to willingly pose for the camera for any amount of time. Playing games and taking a more natural, interactive approach, captures exactly how your family is, while keeping picture time a positive experience for everyone. Tag or “where is baby?” are great little games to play to keep everyone happy and smiling.
