Maternity Photography – Inside & Outside
I am so excited to share this gallery! I didn't know too much about these clients going into the session. All I knew was that we were going to do a combination of studio and outdoor maternity photography.
Once they came in, I could see that they were all smiles. We opted to do a few photos outside first. It was a nice day, especially for January.
Once we went back in, Momma changed into the first maternity gown. It was a stunning white gown, making her eyes shine. The second gown was a strapless teal gown. The hair clip that Momma wore added just enough sparkle to make the gowns we chose really pop.

6 Month Milestone & Family Session
It was so great to see this family again! When it was time for baby's 6 month milestone session, we combined it with a family session. We captured big brother and images of both boys with mom and dad as well. It was a bit cold, so we ran out the back door of the studio and back in a couple of times to warm up.
We did baby's 6 month milestone inside on grey seamless paper. Winter and babies doesn't really make for happy images otherwise.

Printed and Digital Photograph Storage
When it comes to keeping your photographs safe, there is nothing better than keeping an archive of your photos in both printed and digital format. Read on for a few of the tricks and tips that I've come across both professionally and personally.
Printed Photograph Storage
While not every photograph you have will be heirloom quality, there will be those that you'll want to pass on to future generations. Arguably the best format for these photos is an archival print. Digital technology is constantly changing, needing to be kept up with to ensure your photographs remain accessible. For example, if I handed you a floppy disk of photos, you prob ...
Maternity Photography Album
When was the last time you made a purchase that gave you continued, unexpected return on investment?
For me, it was a few years ago. I stumbled upon a black wool blazer while browsing in my favorite store. It was on sale (bonus!), and it seemed to be something that would go with anything. You know, the kind of thing that could be paired with dress pants in the office or with jeans on the weekend. Even with the sale price, however, it was still a pretty major investment and I hesitated before buying it. I am so glad that I actually made the purchase, however. I wore that blazer frequently during the next year or two. I got more than my monies ...
Simple Newborn Photography
Simple newborn photography is my favorite. Why? I think it is because the focus is 100% on the baby. These images are always pure and timeless. When you take fancy props and outfits out of the equation, your images won't ever date.
When Michelle came to me, she didn't want images that were full of stuff. We decided on simple color - mint and purple. Any wraps and headbands were to be kept very simple. The images that we created are simply stunning. Baby was posed totally naturally, showing off her little features in an organic setting.
Another request was a focus on the details. I took lots of macro shots - photographs that are zoomed i ...
Natural Maternity Photography
I know a lot of the maternity images I show on my blog are highly styled, so I thought that I would use this post to show some more natural maternity photography. After all, images that focus on interaction are some of the most captivating ones that I take.
I've had many clients request images that are a little more natural feeling. I love these types of images because they show exactly who my clients are, without any extra styling to make things more complicated.
These two, for example, are the most loving, joy filled couple. They couldn't stop smiling and you can just see how in love they are.
If you are a little nervous on camera, ...
Family Photography – Hawrelak Park, Edmonton
Every so often I get around to taking out my camera to capture photos of my own family.
This past Sunday, Ryan and I took our 21 month old to William Hawrelak Park in Edmonton. I'll admit that the primary reason we chose this particular location was that Ryan had been told that it was a Pokemon Go hot spot. I will always mock him for his devotion to this fad, but I have to admit that it has had its perks - specifically getting him to be more active.
Anyway...the photographer in me figured this would be the perfect setting to capture a few images of Gracie. I have been wanting to practice my skills as a videographer as well, and the comb ...
6 Month Old Baby Photography
It's so hard to believe that we just finished Nora's 6 month old baby photography session. She'll always have a special place in my heart as I've photographed her from before she was born. She was very happy when she came in (she usually is a very happy baby).
In our studio in Lucina, we were able to photograph a few different sets in the 1/2 hour we had for our session time. Nora had just gotten some teeth, so we definitely wanted to capture that. She also had absolutely mastered sitting and she was even starting to stand. I always marvel at just how quickly my baby planners grow up. I know I'm not the only one.
Since she was a January ...
