Newborn Girl Photography Session
This sweet little girl had so much hair! She was so adorable. She was just so itty bitty, I wanted to snuggle her forever.
Her session was super girly. We chose lots of greens and pinks and used all the lace and all the flowers. This session also included quite a few digital backgrounds, to keep things simple when shooting, but giving lots of variety in her gallery.
Mom brought a bunch of hairbows to incorporate, which was perfect with all that hair!
The session was an essential newborn photography session, which was held in the studio. These sessions take around 2 - 2.5 hours depending on how well baby sleeps.
See below for a few ...
Simple Newborn Boy Session
Okay you guys, so I loved everything about this session. This session was an essential session (baby only) that took place in the studio.
Mom wanted simple, neutrals as well as awake baby shots. Of course, neutrals are my absolute favorite. It also helped that her little man made things so easy. He was super chill and made the best (seriously! totally the best) faces. I loved all those forehead wrinkles and his big eyes were just ah-mazing. I don't think I have ever enjoyed editing a session as much as I did this one. Every image was just so stinking cute.
For neutral colours we stuck with browns and greys. I kept things nice and simple ...
Home Maternity Session
If you've spent much time at all decorating your home, this can be the perfect place for a session. A home maternity session allows you to have photos that are only yours. Photos that can't be duplicated by anyone else. Plus, if you're in love with more than one style of photography, we can include it all in the session.
In Home Maternity Session
This particular couple were struggling between wanting boudoir images and traditional outdoor photos. Mama also had the amazing idea of adding a glitter bath (like a milk bath, but much more sparkly) to the session. In this case, we took a number of images of this gorgeous couple in baby's nursery, ...
Newborn Boy Photography
Oh man, it has been forever since I posted something! Here's an extra special newborn boy photography session, for a family that has waited for this precious baby for a really long time. One thing surrogacy has taught me, is that the harder the road, the more you appreciate all the wonderful moments. I think sometimes we don't realize just how quickly our newborn babies will grow. These parents absolutely had a sense of that.
For our session we planned on using a fair number of digital backdrops. Using these allows me to create elaborate artwork, while keeping session time to 2-3 hours instead of probably 4. Mom really loved jewel tones an ...
Classic Newborn Photography Session
To continue the trend of showing the difference between my Classic / Full and Essential / Mini Sessions, here is a Classic Newborn Photography Session. The session usually results in 30-40 proofs to order from.
With newborn sessions, I generally recommend the Classic session if you'd like to include parent and / or sibling images, as well as getting close up shots. In the Essential session you won't be able to get a good variety of both. Both sessions take about the same amount of time. I usually recommend leaving around 3 hours for your session. If baby sleeps really well, an Essential session will take only an hour and a Classic session ...
Classic Maternity Photography Session
To continue my post earlier this week, showing the difference between the Essential session and the Classic session, here is a recent classic session gallery.
The Classic maternity photography session comes with a proof gallery of 20-30 photos. The Classic session is usually around an hour, but the length of time can be made shorter or longer based on your individual needs. There's more opportunity to get a gallery with more diversity, including maybe some intimate, boudoir style photos, close up photos, and a nice mix of couple photos and individual shots. The classic session gives you the full experience, maximizing the number of photos ...
Essential Maternity Photography Session
I've been thinking that it may be helpful to show the difference between an Essential maternity photography session and a Classic maternity session / Luxury session (a classic session with hair and make-up).
The Essential session results in a proof gallery with approximately 20 photos to choose from. They tend to be a little shorter, but they work great for someone who either:
a) doesn't have a lot of time; or
b) doesn't have a lot of energy (which totally happens as you get to that third trimester!)
I have a lot of clients that opt for this session for one of these two reasons. You can still have a great experience, it is just a bit mo ...
Newborn Boy Session
This little man was so cute. He didn't sleep too well, but I still managed to capture a few sleepy photos to round out the gallery for this Essential session. We went for some natural looking photos and included some simple parent poses in the gallery.
For the majority of the photos, I captured baby on a black background and used Photoshop to incorporate him into some beautiful pre-designed images. These photographs provide so much diversity to the gallery without having to move baby around from prop to prop. It works wonderfully well for a baby who is a little bit unsettled. Not to mention that these backdrops are absolutely gorgeous.
